Every piece tells a story at Throwbacks NW through Seattle Restored

“I think what draws people to vintage is that [they] don’t want to wear what everybody else has,” said Rialto “Rio” Estolas, owner of Throwbacks NW and Throwbacks NW Stadium Collective.

“Every piece tells a story.”

That appreciation grew into Throwbacks NW, which has served Seattle for 19 years and is continuing to do so from its original Capitol Hill location. This March, Seattle Restored helped Estolas test a second shop in Pioneer Square, just blocks from Lumen Field. Its colorful racks hold everything from SuperSonics hats, retro Seahawks windbreakers, exclusive World Cup tees, and much more.

The timing couldn’t have been better. During the 2026 FIFA Men’s World Cup, Throwbacks NW Stadium Collective was ready to welcome visitors and locals from around the world. Estolas opened as early as 7 a.m. and stayed as late as midnight to serve customers.

Now, it’s Seahawks season, and fans of the reigning Super Bowl champions flock to the area every weekend, home game or not.

True to its name, Throwbacks NW Stadium Collective hosts multiple vendors under one roof, and Estolas intentionally prioritized BIPOC partners when curating participants. When shoppers visit the collective, their dollars support not only one family-owned small business, but also the many vendors and families connected to it.

“I like to give platforms [to] other people and work within the community and find ways to work together,” Estolas said. “I think that is kind of the strategy with Seattle Restored, [too,] and that’s what I think is cool about it.”

After a successful six-month pop-up through Seattle Restored, Estolas signed an independent lease to extend his Pioneer Square venture in the same retail space. For him, the purpose behind it all remains clear.

“It really does come down to the people,” he said. “The people that shop with us, the stories, the history, and cultivating community.”

Be sure to follow the shop on social media and visit Throwbacks NW Stadium Collective at 414 2nd Ave S in Pioneer Square.

Seattle Restored is a program by our office and managed in partnership with the Good Business Network of Washington. Through the program, we help activate vacant spaces, keep neighborhoods vibrant, and support small business owners to launch businesses without taking on the complete risk of a long-term retail lease.
