Iran’s World Cup Team Faces Same-Day Entry, Exit Rules for US Matches
The team's preparations have been altered amid ongoing tensions linked to the conflict involving Iran, the United States, and Israel. As a result, Iran has relocated its World Cup training base to Mexico after dropping earlier plans to hold its camp in Tucson, Arizona.
"We can enter in the morning and we must leave the same day,” Ambassador Abolfazl Pasandideh told reporters while referring to visa-related limitations.
Iran is set to play three group-stage fixtures on American soil, including two games in Los Angeles and another in Seattle.
The region has experienced heightened instability since late February, when US and Israeli forces carried out airstrikes targeting Iran, according to reports. The attacks were followed by a series of retaliatory actions that intensified tensions across the Middle East.
In response, Iran launched attacks against Israel and also targeted nations hosting American military facilities. Reports further indicated that shipping activity through the strategic strait, a vital corridor for global energy transportation, was disrupted during the escalation.
Although a ceasefire was later implemented, diplomatic discussions aimed at achieving a more comprehensive settlement have continued, according to reports.
